July 21, 1943 - Upon completion of her refit, Hollywood star Errol Flynn threw a lavish party for the crew. They reciprocated by allowing him and his press agent (seen here with Wahoo's Exec, Roger Paine) to ride as they departed for Pearl Harbor. They returned to shore on the pilot boat. Courtesy R.W.Paine, Jr. July 29, 1943 - Following Wahoo's routine fumigation at Pearl Harbor, Roger Paine and Chief of the Boat Carr developed symptoms akin to acute appendicitis. Though poisoned by the fumigant, both were transferred to the hospital to undergo appendectomies. Lt. Commander Verne L. Skjonsby, seen here as a midshipman at Annapolis, was immediately attached to Wahoo as her new Executive Officer. Three days later the boat departed on patrol.
