The
following are some images from SubRon5's 4th
annual competition free fun run in Georgetown, Texas:

Drought induced running conditions on the
San Gabriel. The stagnant water odor could be smelled
from the moment the car door was opened. Everything was
scorched. To paraphrase Cooleridge's "Rhyme of the R/C
Submariner": Water, water everywhere, but not a spot
to sink.

"Pearl Harbor" launch area. The ledge
to the left is normally two feet underwater and used
to
launch
and
recover
boats. |

"New London" launch area. This was the
main launch area normally used at previous runs. The
steps
leading
down
to the
landing are normally submerged. |

Due to the lowered water level, the drying
of springs which normally feed the river, and summertime
sunshine, the algae bloom reduced visibility from 3
- 4 feet to 3 - 4 inches. Yuck! |

However, all was not lost. The gang regrouped
and had a wonderful time. Pictured above is Don Baker,
Gorden Gregson, Paul Crozier, Albert Johnson, Tom Kisler,
Jeff Portous, Gail Phillips and Gene Tilbury. |
